Basketball at the YMCA

Recreational sports allow kids to develop athletic skills in a league format.

Referees and scoring are incorporated in grade levels 3 and 4. These programs are all coached by volunteer parents, please see Parents and Coaching for more information about getting involved.

Micro Basketball Ages 3 to 5 (Co-Ed)

  • Seasons: Winter

  • Location: Salem, Monmouth-Independence, Silverton, Woodburn

  • Cost: $40 for community members/free for those with a Y Family Membership

Micro Basketball introduces the youngest players to the sport in five, 45-minute sessions. Structured practice and scrimmages keep kids engaged and provide a fun environment for participants, parents, and spectators.

Recreational Basketball Grades K through 6

  • Seasons: Fall (Co-Ed K-4), Winter (Co-Ed K-2)

  • Location: Salem, Monmouth-Independence, Silverton, Woodburn

  • Cost: $85 for community members/free for those with a Y Family Membership

Join us for recreational basketball in the fall and winter. Our teams encompass all skill levels. Basketball teams practice twice a week and play games on Saturdays against other Y teams.

Competitive Basketball Grades 5 through 8

  • Seasons: Fall

  • Location: Silverton

We are proud to partner with Silverton High School to develop future high school athletes. Tryouts are required for each grade-level team. Teams practice 2 days a week for the season and travel regionally to compete in tournaments
