Together, the YMCA and the Camp Silver Creek Alumni Association are committed to providing a healing environment to the youth who were affected by the Canyon fires. We are sensitive to each child's needs and will take necessary precautions when dealing with any triggers they may experience due to trauma from the fires. Camp Silver Creek and Camp Greider are places where kids can find safety and know that being themselves is accepted and encouraged; no matter what they are experiencing in their life.
Canyon Campers is the YMCA and the Camp Silver Creek Alumni Association’s effort to unite youth that were impacted by the wildfires through a fun and safe camp experience. Whether it’s catching their first fish at Camp Silver Creek, getting a bullseye at the Camp Greider archery range, or learning something new about science and nature, kids at YMCA camp leave with lasting impressions.
For over 80 years the YMCA has been providing youth opportunities to explore, learn, and connect with their peers through summer camp. Out of all of the years, the Y has provided this fun and engaging experience, this might be the year that youth need camp the most.
Funds raised will be used to provide scholarships to send Canyon Kids to Camp as well as providing supplies for campers and improving fire safety for the camp and staff.
