Often called the perfect sport, swimming burns fat, builds muscle, reduces stress, improves body confidence, and strengthens the heart, lungs, and brain. Swimming requires less equipment, causes fewer injuries, and generates less laundry than nearly any other sport, making it a true lifelong sport.

Safety Around Water (Parent-Tot)

The Y has been a leading provider of water safety and swimming skills since 1909. We are proud to be the most accessible community resource to prevent drowning and develop life-saving skills for our youth. Our nationwide Safety Around Water Program is designed to teach youth critical water skills to prevent drownings nationwide. Classes are available for all ages starting at 6 months.

Swim Lessons

Make a splash with the organization that invented group swimming lessons. The Y offers group, private, and semi-private lessons for all ages and abilities using a proven, safety-focused curriculum. Coaches will assign participants to groups based on tryouts and the best balance of classes each season. Swim lessons are offered year-round in Silverton and during the summer in Monmouth. Please call to arrange a free evaluation with one of our instructors.

Swim Clinics

Returning this spring, Swim Clinics are designed for kids 6-18 who have completed up to Stage 4 swim lessons and are either not ready or do not wish to join the swim team. Clinics are small groups that enable swimmers to work one on one with an instructor to improve specific skills. Each week drills down on one area:

  • Individual Medley works on all four strokes equally
  • Stroke focuses on the stroke the individual participant is struggling with the most
  • Turns and Dives
  • Conditioning and Endurance

Swim Teams

Want to swim competitively in a fun and positive environment? Join the team! Serving ages 6 to 18, swim team participants improve individual skills while swimming competitively. Your coaches will focus on proper technique while you improve your endurance, learn teamwork, and make friends.

Lap Swimming

Due to limited capacity and high demand, we're requiring reservations for lap swimming. Reservations are 45 minutes long. Please make sure to bring a towel from home. For the Silverton Pool, reserve a lane time here. For the Monmouth-Independence pool, reservations will open in June. Two members of the same household can share a lane. Please maintain distance from those not in your household.

Lifeguard Certification

Red Cross lifeguard certification is the national standard required for working around pools, lakes, or beaches. Participants must be at least 15 years of age and must pass the pre-course skills test at least two weeks prior to registering. For lifeguards in their second year, we also offer the shorter Red Cross lifeguard recertification.

Water Fitness (Aquacise)

Looking for a way to make new friends and get a workout in? We have a solution for you! Our Aquacise classes are a structured adaptive opportunity for all adults. These classes are by reservation only.
